1. Introduction
Lerniva ("we", "us", or "our") is a safe, inclusive, AI-powered social learning ecosystem designed for students, learners, educators, mentors, and school institutions. We take the privacy and safety of our community seriously. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, process, and protect your information when you use our mobile application, web portals, and website (collectively, the "Services").
2. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide a secure, tailored educational experience. This includes:
Full name, email address, password, selected role (e.g. Learner, Educator, Mentor), school affiliation, and profile photo when you sign up.
Cohorts, classes, assigned lecture materials, study packs, learning notes, flashcards, and response submissions for scheduled assessments.
Prompts sent to the AI Study Assistant, hints provided, quiz progress, and metadata concerning moderation scans.
Incident report history, safeguarding logs, and auto-moderated chat logs to ensure a toxic-free ecosystem.
Device identifier, IP address, operating system, and application events (e.g., connection losses or tab backgrounding events to enforce assessment integrity).
3. How We Use Your Information
We process your data strictly to fulfill educational, safety, and operational tasks:
To authenticate accounts and route you to the correct role-specific portal workspace.
To manage classroom cohorts, track assessment timers, and serve score analytics to school facilitators.
To operate the AI Study Assistant responsibly, providing guide-first reflections rather than shortcuts.
To screen public and private interactions for safety, ensuring toxic-free and secure communities.
To provide shareable digital credentials and verified learning records that schools can trust.
4. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR)
Because Lerniva is deployed in schools and learning centres, we are highly committed to protecting the privacy of young learners:
We do not collect personal information from children under 13 without the explicit consent of their school institution, parent, or legal guardian.
School administrators or parents have the right to review, edit, or request the deletion of a child's personal data at any time.
We do not target advertising to children, nor do we sell or monetize any student learning data.
5. Account Deletion & Data Retention
We support your right to delete your account and personal records at any time.
How to Request Account & Data Deletion:
You can delete your account directly through the mobile app settings. Alternatively, you can submit a deletion request by emailing us at [email protected] from your registered email. Once requested, your personal profile, credentials, and custom uploads will be permanently removed from our active databases within 7 days. For detailed steps, view our Data Deletion Instructions.
6. Information Sharing & Disclosure
We do not share your personal information except in the following limited cases:
Facilitators and educators can view cohort progress, assessment results, and safety-related reports linked to their classroom.
We may share data with vetted infrastructure partners (e.g. database hosting and secure AI models) who operate under strict non-disclosure agreements.
If required by law, regulation, or legal process to protect student safety or platform integrity.
7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to secure your data. All database connections use SSL encryption, and passwords are hashed using bcrypt. Access to student information is restricted to authorized school and platform administrators under strict access controls.
8. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
The right to access, inspect, and export a copy of your personal data at any time.
The right to rectify, update, or correct incomplete or inaccurate profile details.
The right to restrict or object to the processing of certain educational telemetry.
The right to request permanent account and data deletion as outlined in Section 5.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to align with new feature releases or regulatory updates. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the effective date above.
